"Be still and know that I am God" is one of the most beautiful verses from the Bible. But it's not easy to practice in this busy world. Mornings with Jesus 2012 will help usher you into the quiet that you crave, where you can experience more of Jesus' beautiful and powerful presence."
Mornings with Jesus 2012 contains 366 devotions written by the well-known, friendly voices of Judy Baer, Gwen Ford Faulkenberry, Tricia Goyer, Sharon Hinck, Keri Wyatt Kent, Erin Keeley Marshall, and Camy Tang. The book will help you discover more about Jesus, His promises and love, as well as help you find stillness in His word during your busy days.
Too often, women find themselves hurried, stressed and busy with little time in our days to sit down and spend time in God's Word. It can be difficult to find the messages of the Bible when we need them the most. This devotional book will bring you that message with just a little time each morning.
Each day begins with a Bible verse followed by a devotional reading by one of the seven women which is connected to their own lives, which in turn helps the reader connect to the Scripture and give them encouragement. Each devotional ends with a "faith step" which will challenge the reader to look at the Scripture and apply it to their own life. The book also includes a topical index and scripture reference index to find the right devotional and message at the time.
As someone who struggles each day to find more time to spend quietly with Jesus and in His Word, I greatly appreciate a devotional book like this. The readings are quick but they get right to the point and stick with you. The women who write this book all have different life experiences to share and their messages are inspirational and encouraging for all women.
One that has spoken straight to my heart so far is from Tuesday February 2 and is written by Gwen Ford Faulkenberry. It starts with,
"Have you ever been bone-tired? I don't mean just sleepy, I mean drained in your spirit. At the point of exhaustion all the way down to your bones."
Further down the page she writes,
"As I ponder to inspire others, it is clear that I need some inspiration myself. I close my eyes and listen for the still, small voice. Faithful as always, He speaks to me from the pages of my memory: Come to Me. I will give you rest."
I have been there. And I am there. It is a timely message for me, and I absolutely love the honesty of this devotion. It reminds me I'm not alone because I'm not the only one who feels this way. I'm not alone because Jesus is always with me, ready to give me what I need.
I am giving away a copy of Mornings with Jesus 2012. This is open to residents of Canada and the US. To enter, just leave me a comment with your email address. The contest is open until Sunday February 19 at 11:59pm.
